School and Family Resources

LMPC has a variety of resources for family and school (both the elementary and high school levels) to use.  We have a library of books and videos suitable for children and schools.  Library books can be checked out for up to a month for free.  Videos can be rented for up to a week for just the shipping cost.  Contact LMPC if you are interested in these programs or would like to borrow a video or book.

We also have children's books available for sale.  Some of the books we have for sale are curricular resources for different grade levels.  See below for a list of these curricular resources.

We also offer programs for schools to teach conflict transformation and also to start a peer mediation program.  See the listing below for these programs.

Programs

Reading, Writing and Relationships:  Understanding the School as an Emotional System     

This new workshop is based on family systems theory, which helps school staff understand such patterns, reduce reliance on them, and manage themselves differently within them.   Topics covered are:

  • Introduction: What is a Relationship System?
  • Relationship Patterns: Distancing and Triangling
  • Relationship Patterns: Conflict and Overfunctioning-Underfunctioning Reciprocity
  • Getting Beyond Reactivity

Conflict Transformation Skills For the Classroom

  • Follows above workshop with next level of training
  • Designed to equip core group of teachers who will   be training student mediators
  • 6 hours of training; adaptable for elementary, junior high, or high school

We have a library of about 250 videos, which can be borrowed free of charge.  (You just pay for the shipping charges.)  We have set up suggested video series for groups interested in various topics.  Click on each subject to view the videos we have available.  You can phone our office to rent the videos.  Topics we offer are:  Anabaptism and Amish; anti-racism; biographies of peacemakers; Central America; children and teens; conflict; conscientious objection ; domestic violence and sexual abuse; Gulf War; Middle East; Nuclear weapons; peacemaking; peer mediation; reconciliation and forgiveness; social justice issues; specific countries; U.S. government; violence and weaponsVORP and restorative justice.
